A list with the Duke - 1750 pts

Welcome back the webway, and I just want to show a train of thoughts about making a list. Today I will be expanding upon the topic I just talked about yesterday; that of the Duke. Today I will play with the idea of making a list using the Duke despite my beef with him.

Now if I were to even use the Duke I would make sure that I get everything out from this little bugger as possible. Now let's try to make something out of this nonsense that is the Duke. Now at 150 pts, we will try to make a list with his attributes in mind, and I need to make do to the best of his abilities. So first stop, we got the duke with his "She-bang, she-boom" rules. He is essentially the reason why I am making this post, so he's into the mix.

Duke Sliscus -150 pts

Next stop; the duke needs his homies. This in itself usually let us think of the Trueborns with the Shardcarbines and splinter cannons, but for the sake of making a list with the rest of the boys, we will let him sit inside a squad of Kabalites with a blaster. Why the blaster is there? Just in case some stupid vehicle came our way, but I would prefer that the blaster is not even in there to begin with. And for the sake of the Raider we will throw in a flickerfield.

Kabalite Warriors x 9
Blaster x 1
Raider with flickerfield

Total: 166 pts

Now that we are done with that, we will have to take a few drug-crazed hippies to capitalize on his drug rules. As with the rules of redundancies, it is best that I take two squads of wyches. Now, based upon the golden ration of crazy bitches to target, it is best that we take 8 of them with haywire grenades (for those stupid walkers) and a Hekatrii with an agoniser. All this will go into the Raider with flickerfield. And to let them be even more of a bitch to your opponent, we will take the haemonculus for each one of the Wyches. Just for lulz sake, and also to soften some targets up, we would take the liquifier gun with the Haemonculus.

Haemonculi squad
Haemonculus with liquifier gun x 2

Total: 120 pts

Wyches x 8
Haywire Grenades x 8
Hekatrii upgrade with Agoniser x 1
Raider with flickerfield

Total pts : 196 pts

Wyches x 8
Haywire Grenades x 8
Hekatrii upgrade with Agoniser x 1
Raider with flickerfield

Total pts : 196 pts

This would total to a cost of 678 pts. Now that is done, we will need to balance out our scoring units before we see what toys we can put into the list. From the looks of it, two Venom-totting Kabalites would be good enough for the purpose of having enough troop choices, and also to minimized upon the point cost to see what else we could put in there.

Kabalite Warriors x 5
Blaster x 1
Venom with two splinter cannons

Total: 125 pts

Kabalite Warriors x 5

Total: 125 pts

Currently we are at 928 points for our 1750 pts, and since we needed more ranged-antitank, I will just throw in 3 Ravagers with Dark Lances and Flickerfields.

Ravager
Dark Lance x 3
Flickerfield

Total pts: 115 pts

Dark Lance x 3
Flickerfield

Total pts: 115 pts

Flickerfield

Total pts: 115 pts

This would bring us to a total of 1273 pts, and my word we need to put in more stuff. So right now we need to have the rules of redundancy and versatility into the mix. Just to enhance the overall anti-tank and anti-infantry of the whole army, I will throw in two squads of Kabalite Trueborns with blasters in Venoms and call it good.

Kabalite Trueborn x 4
Blasters x 4
Venom with two splinter cannons

Total pts: 173 pts

Kabalite Trueborn x 4
Blasters x 4

Total pts: 173 pts

Wow.....we are currently at 1769. Ah nads, I need to cut down the weight. Hm.....where should I take out the points from? Oh yeah, remember the Kabalite warriors that the Duke is in? The blaster is not really helpful there to begin with. There's a solution. Take out the blaster and a warrior, and put in a Splinter Rack for their Raider.

Kabalite Warriors x 8
Raider with flickerfield and Splinter Rack

Total: 147 pts

And voila! This is the end result.

Duke Sliscus -150 pts

For a total of 1750 pts, I have gotten the following counts for ranged weaponry;

12 Dark Lances
10 Blasters
48 splinter cannons shots
8 Super poisoned splinter rifles (twin-linked)
8 splinter rifle shots
2 liquifier guns

For body count I get,
45 bodies
10 vehicles

Now this is surprisingly quite alright for a Dark Eldar arm. The basic idea of the army is nothing too complex as compared to other Dark Eldar lists but as with most good lists, the simpler it is the more efficient it is. In addition, due to the rules by Sliscus, I am able to get a boost overall throughout my entire army, as I will be able to get the drug rolls I want, I will get the better poisoned rifles, and also I have more options when it comes to my deployment.

Ironically enough, this list is actually better than the usual list I am running, as I like to have options and variety in my lists. Despite my utter beef with the Duke, he is perhaps the special character that suits my needs the most.
